12/27/11

Okay 2011, we had a good run but it's time we go our separate ways.  Seems like you want things to stay the way they are and I'm really in need of change.  I'd like to try hanging out with 2012 and see what comes of it.  No hard feelings.

We're back in Seattle now.  We have been since mid-September and it has been great.  We have a little house in West Seattle a couple of miles from Lincoln Park so we go there several times a week.  Three months in and I still find the beauty of the Puget Sound to be breathtaking.

From an outside perspective it might look like we are on the lam, traveling light and leaving town whenever we feel like someone may be on to us.  In the past twelve months we went from Seattle to Los Angeles to Yountville to Napa and back to Seattle.  It was exhausting and exhilarating.

While in Los Angeles I found my way into the business of writing music for tv shows.  Maybe you'd recognize a couple of them.  Mostly they're the ones that you would only see when you're home with a cold, eating soup on the couch in front of the tv all day.  So all year I devoted myself to learning the craft of writing instrumental background music for these shows, and it has been great.  Year to date I've written nearly 300 little bits of music.  It's the most productive year I've ever had and it feels good.

I haven't written a single song of my own, though, and didn't play a single show of my own.  I don't know how to feel about that but it seems like something that needs some consideration.

So, as this year comes to its end I'm thinking about what I'd like to get done over the next 12 months.  We'll see how it goes.
